Thus far, over 11,000 individuals have contributed to PD research through the California-based company 23andMe. Researchers have identified 8 new genetic associations with PD. Through a partnership with Genentech, 3,000 individuals and their first-degree relatives will undergo gene sequencing to help identify new treatments for the disease.
